Expert-led Experiences with Barrie Friend

Barrie Friend

My passion for this battlefield springs from the immense respect I have for my father who, as part of 5 Para, 6th Airborne Division, helped hold Pegasus Bridge immediately after Major Howard’s coup de main early on 6th June 1944.

Join me on this battlefield tour as we visit all five landing beaches where 150,000 allied troops broke Hitler’s Atlantic Wall.

Pegasus Bridge

This is a harrowing and extremely moving story of the events of one day in June 1944 with illuminating descriptions on every aspect of the conflict: the taking and holding of Pegasus Bridge and Merville Battery; the grave of the first allied soldier killed in action; Lord Lovat’s piper who led the commandos ashore on Sword beach; the sites of action of the only VC awarded on the day; the Mulberry Harbours; the American forces’ success at Utah ,the struggle at Omaha and Point du Hoc and the recently discovered German battery.

The allied and German cemeteries are especially moving.

Contact me on 0779 6633516 for details of the next five day tour starting on 25th May 2017 for reasons to remember. Cost £510 (single supplement £91), entrances included, lunches and dinners extra.
